Hello there. My name is Emily Huante. If you've scrolled this far down, then you must have taken interest in my content. But everything you've seen by this point runs deeper than it may appear.

ABOUT

The autistic mind is layered -- kind of like paper. The brighter the colors, the deeper the story behind the piece is. To understand my head is not to label me at first glance. Even a sit down conversation won't cover much ground. So instead, let me show you the pictures I think and speak in before making verbal impressions.

The best way I express myself is through my art, and it's been that way for my entire life. "Ever since I could hold a crayon properly," is what I always say. What I've done most recently with my work is taken a deeper trip inside my own mind. Reaching for memories, pleasant or otherwise, and projecting them onto the canvas -- as layers of carefully cut, painted and glued paper rather than the generic paint mediums that people tend to associate the canvas with. As a result, visible layers build on the once pristine surface as solid shapes, sharp and bold.

To have questions is not a bad thing. The idea is not only to make people feel -- but to think as well. You can't understand someone until you shift your viewpoint to a new angle and study their perspectives. I'm here to offer you a chance to view my own perspective.
